The Chilton Small Cap European UCITS Fund is a long/short equity strategy focused on companies in developed Europe with a market cap <3bn EUR.

The strategy invests in listed smaller companies across a diverse range of sectors, both long and short, where there is a mismatch between the market’s perception, and corporate reality, of these companies.  At the smaller end of the market there is greater alpha opportunity caused by the distinct lack of research coverage.

The investment process involves deep fundamental bottom-up research, resulting in a high conviction portfolio that has been refined since 2007.  The core pillars of stock selection involve assessing management, analysing cashflows and identifying catalysts.  The stocks selected for the resulting portfolio can be categorised into two groups - as either strong growth compounders with high ROCE, or undervalued quality growth franchises.

The fund only shorts single stocks, does not use leverage and seeks to provide risk-adjusted returns  with lower volatility than the market.  Risk management at both the single stock level and the portfolio level is an integral part of the investment process.  This is not a trading fund and holding periods are typically over 1 year.
